Schielandshuis. In this XVII century building ,a collection of historical and artistic treasures is lodged, from the origins of the city of Rotterdam to the reconstruction after the German bombings. In this mansion is also the Atlas van Stolk collection, which contains forms and drawings about the Netherlands history. Het Schielandshuis has an extensive clothes collection and exhibits several rooms of different periods with paintings, glass, ceramics, toys and armors among others. The museum opens every day. |

Mariniersmuseum. The Mariniermuseum or Museum of the Royal Navy Corps is located in the same place where the Royal Dutch Navy fought at the beginning of World War II against the Germans. The Royal Navy Corp was founded in the 17th century in order to protect the merchant fleet. In addition to four centuries of martial history, in the Mariniersmuseum there are exhibitions of recent events like World War II, the Cambodia war and the war in Bosnia. The museum opens from Tuesday to Saturdays from 10,00 to 17,00 and Sundays. |

Wereldmuseum. After several renovations, the old Etnologic Museum opened its doors with a new name; Wereldmuseum .The building dates from 1851 and was built to lodge the Royal Club of Dutch Sailors. The collection from the Maritimum Museum (1883) and from the Etnologic Museum (1878) arose from the gifts donated by the well-off travelling members of the club. The collection consists of more than 200000 objects. The museum opens from Tuesday to Saturdays from 10,00 to 17,00. |

Nederlands Foto Instituut. This museum is a national institute and was founded on 1993. It is located in an old newspaper office building. Its objective is to improve the knowledge of the visitor on the quality photography and to promote the Dutch photography in other countries. In its interior is a zone of exhibitions, a restoration area, and the archive of Dutch photography. The NFI also organizes conferences, workshops, conferences, educative activities and publishes publications. The NFI opens from Tuesday to Sundays from 11,00 to 17,00. |
