MUSEUMS

Boijmans van Beuningen
Boijmans van Beuningen. The museum of art Boijmans van Beuningen is Rotterdam’s oldest and most famous museum. It owes its fame to the lawyer Frans Jacob Boijmans who donated his art collection to the city. The collection grew later on thanks to the businessman Van Beuningen. The museum focuses in four areas: classic masters, engravings and drawings, decorative art and modern art. The museum opens from Tuesday to Saturdays from 10,00 to 17,00 and on Sundays from 11,00 to 17.00.

Dubbelde Palmboom
Dubbelde Palmboom. This museum is located in the historical district of Delfshaven, in the place where two grain warehouses known as the Denmark Warehouses were built in 1825. Around the year 1860 a distillery was made in the same place and the name changed to Dubbelde Palmboom (Double Palm tree). The exhibition shows the evolution of the city of Rotterdam through the centuries. The museum opens from Tuesday to Saturdays from 10.00 to 17,00, and in the weekends from 11,00 to 17.00.

Maritiem Museum
Maritiem Museum. In addition to a great number of events and exhibitions that change throughout the year, this museum also lodges permanent collections. The WereldHaven-HavenWereld exhibition is a multimedia presentation of the port of Rotterdam. The Ik Doop collection teaches the steps followed in the construction of ships from the 17th century. For the children, Professor Plons shows what life at sea was like. The Maritiem Museum opens from Tuesday to Saturday from 10,00 to 17,00 and Sundays from 11,00 to 17.00.
