Brielle
Brielle. This town of about 16000 inhabitants is located in the island of Voorne,25 kilometres from Rotterdam. Brielle is a true open air museum, with numerous monuments, narrow side streets, squares and old houses. It has more than 400 historical buildings in the city. Brielle is historically important being the first site that was retaken after years of Spanish occupation in 1572. The majority of the medieval walls, fortifications and the original layout of the streets are still intact.

Hoek van Holland. Hoek van Holland is the place where the daily ferry between Holland and the English city of Harwich docks and it is also a recreational area. Near Hoek van Holland are numerous areas of great ecological value like Hoekse Bosjes and the zone of Staelduinse Bos designated like a geologic monument. Also there are museums related to the marine life; Kustverlichtings, (museum on the coastal road), the Fort aan de Hoek van Holland (museum of the coastal defence) and the impressive barrier against storms, the masterpiece of the delta system, Keringshuis.
   
Kinderkijk
Kinderdijk. This complex of 19 windmills, canals and polders is located around 7 kilometres to the South east of Rotterdam. Since the XIII century this zone had numerous problems removing the excess water from the polders (reclaimed earth), and due to this numerous canals were excavated. This method fixed the problem for only a few years, but a new system was necessary. It was decided to create a series of windmills. The complex of windmills was created in 1740 to extract the excess water and to transfer it to the Lek River.
   
Schiedam
Schiedam. Schiedam is well-known mainly for its distilleries, which produce the best gin of Holland, and for its shipyards. Schiedam has historical mansions and its centre is of a baroque style. It has 175 buildings in the city listed in the registry of historical buildings. In the historical St. Jacobs Gaasthuis, is the Stedelijk Museum with a collection of antiques from the city, archaeological discoveries and contemporary art. The Wilton-Feijenoord shipyard is an example of how ships are made in Holland.
