What could I tell you about night life in Rotterdam? In winter it is cold and it rains almost every day when it doesn't it snows so forget about long evenings in a terrace with beers and friends. During the week the city is empty as soon as the sun goes down, which normally happens before 17.00. The centre looks like a ghost city and the people you may encounter in the street after this hour don't look very happy. The weekends are more animated as everybody goes out to party, although most of the bars close before 4.00 a.m.


In summer the thing changes a bit. All the bars put their terraces in the street, and during the weekends most of the families run away from the city in search of tranquillity by the Dutch coast. A salsa party here, a free concert there, barbecues in the park, artificial beach next to the river, a new club or one lusting night.


What about prices? To be honest expensive! A pint of lager cost almost five euros, a mix drink more than five euros, cigarettes four euros, to find a nice and cheap restaurant is difficult and the entrance to a club can cost between 5 and 20 euros.
